NNDCC Physical Readiness Test (PRT) Team
THIS YEAR WE PLAN TO COMPETE AND COMPETE STRONG
2024 - 2025 New NNDCC Physical Readiness Team that will be competing this year, we consist of 3 males and 3 females that we make history for our NNDCC at Worthing.
The Navy Physical Readiness Test (PRT) at boot camp consists of three main components:

-
Push-ups: Recruits must perform as many push-ups as possible in 2 minutes.
-
Forearm plank: This replaced the curl-ups/sit-ups in 2024. Recruits must hold the plank position for as long as possible.
-
1.5-mile run: Recruits must complete this run as quickly as possible.

The test is typically administered twice during boot camp - once within the first two weeks and again near the end.
To graduate from boot camp, recruits must achieve a minimum score of "Satisfactory Medium" for their age group. The bare minimum passing standards for most recruits are:

-
Males: 42 push-ups, 1:10 plank hold, 12:45 1.5-mile run
-
Females: 19 push-ups, 1:10 plank hold, 15:00 1.5-mile run

However, it's strongly encouraged to aim for higher scores than these minimums.
Additionally, recruits will complete an initial baseline fitness assessment upon arrival at boot camp, which includes the Physical Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run (PACER) test.
This involves a series of paced wind-sprint style runs over 65 feet, with minimum required laps varying by age group. To prepare for boot camp, it's recommended that prospective recruits adopt a healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition and daily exercise well in advance. Training programs focusing on push-ups, planks, and running can be particularly helpful.
It's important to note that attempting to start boot camp unprepared physically can lead to injury and potential discharge, so taking preparation seriously is crucial
