CADET
CODE OF CONDUCT, GROOMING, AND UNIFORM STANDARDS

ATTENTION:

CALL WORTHING CADETS THESE CODE OF CONDUCT, GROOMING STANDARDS, AND UNIFORM STANDARDS ARE SET BY THE UNITED STATES NAVY.  THEY ARE NOT BENDABLE, FLEXIBLE, AND CANNOT BE QUESTIONED.  THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS MAKE US WHO WE ARE AND ALSO SET US ABOVE THE REST OF THE STUDENTS HERE AT EVAN E. WORTHING HIGH SCHOOL.  WE WILL ALWAYS STRIVE TO SET THE BAR AT OUR SCHOOL, AND BE THE LEADERS NOT ONLY IN NJROTC BUT ALSO IN EVERY CLASS WE TAKE.  THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE THE BACKBONE OF WHAT WILL BE THE DECIDING FACTS OF HOW YOU WILL BE PROMOTED UP THE CHAIN OF COMMAND AND SHOW THAT YOU ARE A SUCCESS IN WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE.

NJROTC Code of Conduct

As members of the NJROTC, cadets are dedicated to the Navy Core Values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. These values build the foundation of trust and leadership upon which the NJROTC unit is based. Cadets are expected to adhere to the following principles:

Honor:

  • Conduct themselves in the highest ethical manner in all relationships with peers, superiors, and subordinates.

  • Be honest and truthful in dealings with each other and with those outside of NJROTC.

  • Abide by an uncompromising code of integrity, taking responsibility for actions and keeping their word.

  • Fulfill or exceed legal and ethical responsibilities in public and personal lives twenty-four hours a day.

Courage:

  • Have the moral and mental strength to do what is right, with confidence and resolution, even in the face of temptation or personal adversity.

  • Make decisions in the best interests of the NJROTC unit and the school, without regard to personal consequences.

  • Meet challenges while adhering to a high standard of personal conduct and decency.

  • Be loyal to the NJROTC unit and fellow cadets, ensuring resources are used in an honest, careful, and efficient way.

Commitment:

  • Demand respect up and down the chain of command.

  • Care for the safety, professional, personal, and spiritual well-being of fellow cadets.

  • Show respect toward all individuals without regard to race, religion, or gender.

  • Be committed to positive change and constant improvement.

  • Exhibit the highest degree of moral character, technical excellence, quality, and competence in entrusted duties.

These core values guide cadets in their daily activities and are the abiding duty and privilege of every NJROTC member.

 The U.S. Navy's guidelines for NJROTC programs here is a proposed NNDCC Worthing Early College High School grooming and uniform standard.  To be a member of any of our competition teams you will have to adhere to the Groom and uniform standards of the unit.:

Grooming Standards

Hair:

  • Male cadets: Hair must be neat, clean, and present a well-groomed appearance. It should be tapered on the sides and back, with the bulk of hair not exceeding 2 inches on top. Sideburns should not extend below the middle of the ear.

  • Female cadets: Hair should be neatly arranged and secured to prevent loose ends from extending outward. It must not fall below the bottom edge of the collar when in uniform.

Facial Hair:

  • Male cadets must be clean-shaven. Mustaches, if worn, should be neatly trimmed and not extend below the corners of the mouth.

Jewelry:

  • One ring per hand is permitted.

  • One wristwatch or bracelet may be worn.

  • Female cadets may wear one pair of small, inconspicuous earrings.

Cosmetics:

  • Female cadets may wear conservative makeup that complements their skin tone.

Uniform Standards

Basic Uniform Components:

  • Navy blue NNDCC-issued shirt with appropriate insignia

  • Khaki trousers or skirt (for female cadets)

  • Black belt with brass buckle

  • Black dress shoes

  • Black socks (or flesh-tone hosiery for female cadets wearing skirts)

  • NNDCC cover (hat)

Uniform Wear:

  • Uniforms must be clean, pressed, and properly fitted.

  • Shirts must be tucked in at all times.

  • Trousers/skirts should be worn at the natural waistline.

  • Shoes must be well-polished.

Accessories:

  • Name tags and ribbons should be worn as prescribed in the NJROTC Cadet Field Manual.

  • Cadets may wear authorized NNDCC pins and badges.

Physical Training (PT) Uniform:

  • NNDCC-issued PT shirt

  • Navy blue shorts or sweatpants

  • Athletic shoes

General Guidelines:

  • Uniforms must be worn on designated days and for all NNDCC activities.

  • Cadets are responsible for proper care and maintenance of their uniforms.

  • Mixing of civilian clothing with the NNDCC uniform is not permitted.

 

These standards are designed to promote a professional appearance and instill discipline among NNDCC cadets at Worthing Early College High School, in line with U.S. Navy expectations for NJROTC programs. Cadets are expected to comply with these grooming and uniform standards at all times when in uniform or participating in NNDCC activities
