THE NNDCC HONOR/COLOR GUARD
This six(6) man/female team is the best of the best of our school. They represent who we are at every event that they are a part of, and making history along the way.
This is what it takes to be part of our elite team. This is our mandate for what a color guard/honor guard at a high school should be like for NJROTC cadets:

Composition: The color guard shall consist of a minimum of four members, typically including a commander, national flag bearer, state flag bearer, and one or two guards.

Uniform: Cadets shall wear the prescribed NJROTC uniform, which may include:

Class A uniform as the base

White ascot
-
Flag carriers and web belts for flag bearers

Special headgear such as berets or guard helmets (with prior approval)

Equipment:
-
National Colors (American flag)
-
State flag and/or NJROTC flag

Standard military M1903 Drill Rifles for guards, detailed and chromed

Training and Practice:
-
Regular practice sessions, typically after school hours
-
Focus on precision drill movements and flag handling

Training overseen by a designated leader, such as the cadet Command Sergeant Major

Duties and Responsibilities:

Present colors at school events (sports games, assemblies)

Participate in community events and parades

Perform opening ceremonies

Compete in drill meets against other schools

Conduct:

Maintain high standards of discipline and bearing
-
Represent the school and NJROTC program with pride and professionalism

Modifications and Approvals:

Any modifications to the standard uniform must be approved by the Area Manager in advance

Safety:

Proper handling and care of flags and weapons
-
Use of reflective gear (armbands, vests, sashes) when appropriate

Scheduling:

Be prepared to support a wide range of events throughout the school year

Coordinate with school administration and community organizations for appearances

This mandate provides a framework for establishing and maintaining a color guard/honor guard that upholds the standards and traditions of the NJROTC program while representing the school with distinction.
